After losing to Mississippi State in the season opener, the team was able to bounce back with a win against Vanderbilt with a few different key factors.
Defensive Lineman Ali Gaye has been a shining star the first couple weeks of the season after transferring from a junior college. Gaye earned a starting spot as a defensive lineman but is still looking to improve.
“Every game I can only get better and better. I’m not so much focused on the stats, I’m just out there having fun,” Ali Gaye said on his contributions to the defense.
Another player that stepped up against Vanderbilt was Jontre Kirklin. Kirklin scored his first two touchdowns of his collegiate career, he is a new starter after a few years of waiting his turn and is now a great asset to the offense.
"That game was a little introduction of what I can do," WR Jontre Kirklin on his first touchdowns. Kirklin had an emotional reaction to his first touchdown of his collegiate career after all the hard work he put in his first three years.
This weekend the game is planned to be held in Baton Rouge but there may be a weather obstacle. Hurricane Delta is coming toward Baton Rouge and may cause the relocation of the game to Missouri.
"When it comes to the game that's not something we're gonna worry about," Stevens on possible relocation due to the hurricane.
The game is currently set for 8 p.m. CT in Baton Rouge.
