After only one year at LSU, Trendon Watford has decided to enter the 2020 NBA Draft while still retaining his NCAA eligibility as he goes through the evaluation process.
Watford started in 30 of 31 games this season, averaging 13.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He finished No. 20 in the SEC in overall scoring and was sixth in the best field goal percentage in the conference with 48.9 percent. He was named a member of the 2020 All-SEC freshman team.
Per a release from LSU athletics, HC Will Wade praised Watford's work ethic and is supporting him in his decision to enter the draft.
"Trendon had an outstanding freshman campaign for LSU, showing great versatility and improvement as the season went on," Wade said.
In a statement posted to Twitter, the 6'9" Forward thanked LSU for welcoming him in, and he will cherish the opportunities and relationships he has been given.
Watford closed the statement by saying, "I will continue working hard to make you guys extremely proud."
The 2020 NBA Draft is set for June 25 in Brooklyn, NY, but the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic could change that.
