The Tigers had something to prove offensively after getting zero hits last weekend against Oklahoma.

The bats were hot as the Tigers scored double digit runs in the first two games, and designated hitter, Gavin Dugas helped secure the win in the final game of the series.

In game three, the tigers trailed the riverhawks by one run in the fifth inning, but Coach Mainieri says it was Dugas who was the hero of this team after hitting two home runs, with one of them putting LSU back in the lead.

“Thank goodness for Gavin Dugas, you know. Otherwise, we’d probably be going home tonight not feeling too good about our hitting. But you know, it takes nine guys. Maybe Wednesday somebody else will be the hero, but Gavin was the hero today” Mainieri said.

Both offensive and defensively, the Tigers feel a boost of confidence going into conference play next weekend.

“I feel like it is important for us because going into next week, we start SEC play, so it’s just a big confidence booster knowing that we are on a I think four game winning streak right now, so it’s just a big boost for the team and all the players” Pitcher AJ Labas said.

LSU will host South Alabama on Wednesday here at The Box before heading to Oxford next weekend to face Ole Miss in their first SEC series.
