Smart was a key part of LSU's success this season averaging 11.1 points per game and filled in for for Tremont Waters during his absence. When Smart was out sick against top conference seed Tennessee, Smart stepped up scoring 29 points against the Volunteers for the win.
"Being at LSU has been a experience for me and I will cherish these moments forever," Smart said on his Instagram post.
Smart says he made this decision after speaking with family and LSU coaching staff.
Smart closes out his post by saying "In my heart, I will always be a Tiger. #GeauxTigers."
Another Freshman LSU basketball player declared for the draft on Thursday. Freshman Guard #24 Emmitt Williams announced his intention to go into the NBA Draft on Instagram Thursday afternoon.
