LSU held a lead against Cal in the second game of the series, before giving up five runs in the sixth inning and losing the game 5-2.

Head coach Paul Mainieri wishes his team would have swept the Golden Bears and held on to a lead in game two, but admits the series could have gone worse.

"That's just how baseball can be. Sometimes baseball giveth, and sometimes baseball taketh away," Mainieri said.

An optimistic outlook from coach because although the result of the Tigers' season so far is not as stellar as expected, the correct elements exist for an explosive team.

The Tigers will travel to Nachitoches to face Northwestern State on Tuesday.
