Individuals who are walking by themselves on campus can be exposed to dangerous situations at night. But now, the Safe Escort Service provided by the LSU Police Department is one call away.

If a person is walking to their destination after Campus Transit services end at midnight, he or she is highly encouraged to request a ride from the LSU PD.

To use the service, you can contact LSU PD by dialing their non-emergency phone at 225-578-3231 or utilize the LSU shield app and click on the “request a safe transport” feature.

Once the ride is requested, an LSU police officer must be sent in a fully marked unit to the caller’s on campus location and must introduce him or herself upon arrival for a courtesy ride to any destination on the LSU campus.

LSU Police Officer Kim Bass explained how safety is LSU’s top priority on this campus. “That’s what we’re here to do, and we want our students [including faculty and staff] to be safe while they’re coming here,” Bass said.

“We provide all resources such as the Safe Escort Service, and if they need a ride then they can call us,” she added.
