LSU is canceling all upcoming study abroad trips due to the growing concerns of the coronavirus outbreak.

This news comes after the university recently canceled spring break trips to China. Students studying in China and Italy this semester have already returned and are in self-isolation.

An official statement from LSU claims, "After careful consideration, and with the health of our academic community top of mind, effective immediately we are restricting international travel of faculty, staff and students."

The same statement states, "All international study abroad experiences going forward are canceled through Aug. 17, 2020."

A statement from LSU Interim President Tom Galligan states, "Practicing appropriate hygiene is the most important thing we can all do right now. That means thoroughly washing our hands with soap and water at regular intervals, covering our coughs, limiting close contact with others and disinfecting common, shared objects."
