Hurricane Delta made landfall along the us Gulf Coast as a category two storm on Friday, Oct. 9th, with winds approaching one hundred miles per hours. In Lafayette, a record-setting storm surge of over nine feet hit the coastal area.

LSU media relations director Ernie Ballard sums up hurricane delta’s impact on campus with the words “nothing major. Just limbs and branches.” These downed limbs and branches caused by sixty one miles per hour winds left many l-s-u students in the area without power. Some not seeing power for three days after the initial loss.

Companies like Entergy are working diligently to restore power to all Baton Rouge residents.
