Early voting has started for the October 12 election. The first day for the Louisiana Governor's election saw a record high crowd with nearly 78,000 voters.

Early voting is continuing this week throughout Baton Rouge for the October 12 Primary Election through October 5.

The hours for each voting site are 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Some voting locations include City Hall downtown and the Louisiana Archives on Essen.

Geaux Vote LSU, a student organization aiming to get students engaged in the political process, is urging students to partake in early voting due to the election falling on the homecoming football game on October 12.

Voters will also see local issues such as state representatives and school board positions.

President of Geaux Vote LSU Grace Bordelon shared information on how students can register to vote, saying, "A lot of people think that you have to register to early vote but you don't. You just go in there with your license or your student i.d., your tiger card works just as well."
