Ex-LSU football running back Alfonso "Tae" Provens was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge prison on one count of third degree rape. The incident allegedly happened at an on-campus apartment.
LSU spokesperson Ernie Ballard III confirmed to Tiger TV that Provens was arrested Wednesday night.
"We can confirm that Alfonso Provens has been arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on third degree rape charges," Ballard said. "We take any and all allegations like these seriously, and currently, this is a law enforcement investigation. Once the law enforcement component is completed, the Office of Student Advocacy & Accountability and the Title IX office will conduct their investigation as well."
The alleged rape occurred early Sunday morning at Provens' Riverbend Hall apartment. The incident took place after a night of drinking in Tigerland, according to Provens' arrest report.
The woman told police her and a friend went to Provens' apartment around 2 a.m. Saturday. Provens allegedly followed her into the bathroom attached to his bedroom where the attack took place.
The woman says she then "blacks out" but remembers Provens forcibly taking off her clothes while she resisted.
Provens entered the NCAA transfer portal on March 21st.
