Healthy living just got easier through Walmart's partnership with LLENA AI, a health platform created by Southern University alumna Charlotta Carter.

LLENA AI is a health platform modeled to help manage blood sugar and achieve health goals, specifically for those with Type II diabetes.

“It was built for me to manage that, and I was able to get off insulin in about six months," Carter said.

The app serves to create an individualized glycemic index value meal and lists what ingredients to use.

LLENA has retail partners that allow for users to shop the meals suggested in the app.

LLENA's recent partnership with Walmart allows one to instantly add the ingredients for those healthy recipes to an online Walmart shopping cart.

Customers can opt for delivery or curb-side pickup.

Carter says Walmart is essential to healthy eating for underprivileged communities because that’s their only access to healthy ingredients.

“Walmart is very critical in working with them to get nutrition to those communities and try to really help address the food desert and food insecurity issues, as well as chronic diseases, that are very prevalent in those communities," Carter said.

Carter said she came from those communities, so she needs this service the most.

"It's a personal journey for me," Carter said. "Both for my family, for my university and for my community."

The partnership with Walmart makes it easier for LLENA to help those in underprivileged communities live healthier lives.

LLENA is available for free download on IOS or Android.
