A new initiative is taking charge to encourage minority students to get involved on campus.

Action Awareness LSU is a student-led initiative dedicated to shining a light on minority events.  This group of roughly ten student leaders promotes inclusion by working with the Office of Multicultural Affairs to represent minorities.

The team recruits members based on particular skills that would be beneficial in getting their message out through social media.  Action Awareness’ logo is a AA battery symbolizing their efforts to take charge for minority students.

Co-founder Lauren Seroyer says their goal is to give equal opportunities to students on predominately white campuses.

“We take videos, and we take pictures at these events, and we want students to feel recognized,” Seroyer said. “I would say the goal is for just our campus to know who we are and for them to be able to reach out to us and want us to come and showcase their events and things that are happening on campus.”
